What challenges did I face?
Lack of design assets
Since this is a passion project that I initiated to practice my UX and UI design skills, I don’t have the proper design assets to use in the website.
Revamping
The current design of the college website has a poor user experience and poor copy writing. As a designer (and a high school alumni), I feel like it needs further improvements with the look and feel as well.
So... what did I do?
Research more about the college institution
I dedicated time to researching the college institution extensively to ensure the website exuded credibility and professionalism. Furthermore, I utilized and elevated the college’s brand identity throughout the design process.
Created high-fidelity wireframes
I created a single pager website that displays the required information such as programs, admissions, events and announcements and contact details of the college institution.
What did I learn so far?
Express your creativity
Do not be afraid to express your creativity in your designs but do not forget to ensure the best practices and guidelines of user experience and user interface design. Make sure to balance creativity and practicality.
Practice your design skills
During your free time, engage in passion projects or take the opportunity to redesign websites you encounter online to refine your user experience and user interface design skills. Keep creating, and strive to continuously evolve and grow.
